How To Make A Smoothie - Create Healthy Fruit Smoothies Easily

The question 'how to make a smoothie' is one that comes up on forums regularly. These fruit smoothies recipes are great at any time of the day.

Healthy fruit smoothies are a filling, nutritious drink that you can have anytime of the day. They're only milk and fruit mixed together in a blender so they're simple to make. Now there's no excuse for not getting some more fruit in your diet!

I prefer my smoothies at breakfast time. Together with my usual cereal or toast I find them quite filling and so I'm not usually hungry until lunchtime.

You can use almost any fruit to make a smoothie, but the best ones to use are soft fruits like bananas, mangoes, peaches etc. Try to avoid fruits like oranges or pineapple that have lots of fibres in them. You want fruits that blend completely into the milk.

How To Make

For this easy smoothie recipe, I'll mention the fruits I use, so just substitute the ones you want.

Peel one banana and slice it fairly thinly into the blender. Take a handful of strawberries, remove any leaves and stalks from the top, slice in half and add to the bananas. You could also use tinned strawberries if you can't get fresh. This will give a sweeter taste, and you can pour in some of the syrup too.

Drizzle some honey over the fruit. I use about a tablespoonful.

Pour in 250ml / 8 fl oz of skim milk over the fruit and honey. Skim milk is the best to use as it will blend together with the fruit much better than full fat milk. It's also better for you, as an added bonus!

Put the lid on your blender and blend until everything is mixed together well – usually 30 seconds does the trick.

Pour into a large glass and drink. It's that easy!
