Ambrosia Recipe - An Easy And Delicious Dessert
This Ambrosia recipe is incredibly simple to make – and there's no cooking involved! It tastes delicious and is certain to wow your family and friends.Ambrosia is reputedly the food of the Gods in Greek mythology. If so, it's not hard to see why they liked it. Here's a really simply recipe for a really delicious dessert (of course, I have no idea what the ancient Greek version tasted like!). The best part is, there's no cooking involved! Just a bit of mixing and you're done! This recipe will serve 4-6 people, or 2 people over a period of a few days. What you'll need is: - 600 grams (1 pound, 4 ounces) of tinned mandarin segments
- 125 grams (4 ounces) of tinned pineapple pieces
- 250 grams (8 ounces) of marshmallows
- 2 cups of desiccated coconut
- 300 millilitres (10 ounces) thickened pouring cream
The equipment you'll need is:- A large mixing bowl
- A medium sized jug
- A strainer
- A wooden spoon
Preparation Drain the mandarin pieces of their juice. Discard the juice. Cut each piece in half. Drain the pineapple pieces of their juice, but keep the juice set aside in a jug. If the pineapple is still in rings, cut each piece into 8 even-sized pieces, so that they're about the same size as the cut mandarin pieces. Cut the marshmallows into quarters. Mixing Now for the easy bit. Put all the mandarin, pineapple, marshmallows, coconut, pineapple juice and cream into your mixing bowl. With your wooden spoon, gently mix everything together. Use a scooping motion, and make sure you go right to the bottom of the bowl and bring the mixture to the top. Once everything is mixed together evenly, cover with plastic wrap and store in the fridge overnight. Serving When it's dessert time, simply serve from the mixing bowl to your dessert bowls. Any leftovers will keep for a few more days.
